Developing a Pipeline of Young Women in “Non-Traditional” Careers

Colorado Women’s Chamber Foundation hosts second-annual Girls Rising event May 18

DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Women’s Chamber Foundation (CWCF) will host its fourth-annual Girls Rising: Building a Pipeline of Women Leaders event on May 18, 2022. This event recognizes and honors young women who have excelled or are seeking careers in male-dominated fields.

The CWCF Girls Rising Scholarship will be awarded to six outstanding scholars in the Denver-metro area in order to help them continue to pursue degrees in industries deemed “non-traditional,” or those that have 25 percent or less female representation.

The event will convene more than 200 business professionals to explore the data and anecdotal observations on women in underrepresented industries and celebrate the scholars. In addition to the scholarship presentation, two keynote speakers working in STEM fields will address the audience.

“In order to advance women in business into the highest levels of leadership, we must build a pipeline of young women who understand that they can reach their goals – in any given industry,” said Simone D. Ross, Executive Director of the Colorado Women’s Chamber Foundation. “As a business community, we must show young women at all intersectional identities what leadership looks like in these fields, because if they can see themselves there – they can find their way there.”
