We are proud to celebrate a powerful and transformative 2024 legislative session. Anchored by our core policy pillars—access to opportunity, affordability, and workplace equity—we passionately engaged with legislation to advance women in business and foster a more equitable business environment.
Throughout the session, CWCC tracked an impressive 40 bills. Of these, we supported 15, monitored 13, and opposed 4.
2023-2024 Legislative Session Highlights
- SB24-106: Right to Remedy Construction Defects
- Our stance: Supported
- Status: Did not pass
- Impact: This bill strengthens the rights of property owners and residents to seek remedies for construction defects, ensuring safer and more reliable housing options, which is crucial for creating affordable living spaces.
- HB24-1237: Programs for the Development of Child Care Facilities
- Our stance: Supported
- Status: Passed
- Impact: By supporting this bill, we aim to address the significant need for affordable child care, which directly impacts women’s ability to participate fully in the workforce.
- HB24-1340: Incentives for Post-Secondary Education: Supported
- Our stance: Supported
- Status: Passed
- Impact: This bill provides incentives for higher education, fostering greater access to educational opportunities that are essential for professional growth and economic empowerment, particularly for women.
2023-2024 Policy Highlights
CWCC Day at the Capitol 2024
One of the highlights of this session was our largest Day at the Capitol yet, with 100 CWCC partners joining us for a day of advocacy and learning. This event underscored the power of collective action and the importance of being present in the legislative process. Our members had the opportunity to engage directly with policymakers, ensuring that the voices of women in business are heard loud and clear.
Governor’s Roundtable
We also hosted a Governor’s Roundtable, bringing together 11 diverse CWCC business owners from small to mid-size companies to discuss Colorado’s business landscape. This roundtable provided a vital platform for our members to share their unique experiences and challenges directly with state leadership, fostering a more supportive environment for women entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Member Engagement
As we look back on this legislative session, we are reminded of the importance of active participation in the legislative process. CWCC’s advocacy efforts are most effective when supported by the voices and actions of our members. We encourage all our members, and most importantly, women, to get involved. Whether it’s by attending events, testifying on bills, or simply staying informed about legislative developments, every action counts. If you’re not at the table, then you’re on the menu.
