Adventures of Pinky: North Luncheon

 Yesterday, the CWCC hosted the North Luncheon at Dave & Buster’s in Westminster with keynote speaker Monic LaBiche Brown from Water for People.  Monica was one of the most inspirational speakers I have ever heard!  The thing that struck me most about her story was her amazing background.  She was born in the Seychelles, and she and her family moved to Uganda at a very young age.  It was there that she began to see the importance of water and proper sanitation facilities in developing countries.  After moving back to the Seychelles for a few years, Monica moved to the United States at the age of 17 .  After college, she went on to work for the World Bank for many years because she knew a lot about the organization and what kind of impact they have on developing nations.  She moved to Denver and worked for several years as a fundraiser for Mercy Housing. In 2006, she was offered a position at Water for People, which she says has been the most rewarding career of her life.  She told us stories of how unsafe drinking water and improper sanitation facilities affect women in developing nations and how fixing these problems helps everyone.  She was such an amazing speaker.
