Meet Our Intern, Sochivy “Melody” Sou
Melody is a young Cambodian woman who is committed to implement change and CWCC has the honor of having her as our intern for the next few weeks.
Melody comes to us from the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) which provides young leaders, from both the United States and around the world, with the opportunity to learn about international affairs through meaningful exchanges of people and ideas – which build relationships that can last a lifetime.
In Cambodia, Melody has been focusing on projects around women’s empowerment and leadership through the international organization Oxfam. This project works with other organizations to increase the number of Cambodian women in leadership roles and at the decision making level in the workforce.
Through her internship with the chamber, Melody is working on her personal and professional development, as well as project management skills that will help her with her projects in Cambodia. She hopes to create a solid foundation for women’s empowerment and mutual development, as well as expand and continue the fight for opportunities to grow in Cambodia.
“At the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce, they have taught me how a small passionate team creates a one big world. I love how they produce women leaders. They give me hope and motivation by seeing women are working for women”
The Chamber is excited to be working with ACYPL for this fellowship program. She is with us five days a week, for a few hours each day. As many of our members know, we are a small, but mighty staff. We are grateful for not just the extra help, but also another perspective. She is amazing and we can’t wait to see what impact she has on Cambodian women.
“I am an advanced planner but last-minute doer”- Melody
