Join The CWCC Young Professionals Board
Please enjoy this archived post about the CWCC YP Advisory Board. Learn more about our current YP Board here.
We can all reflect on 2020 and say “Wow, what a year it has been!” We have been thrown curveballs, pushed to our limits, and getting “comfortable” living in the unknown. And while we are in our own boats, we are all riding this storm together.
Despite this year being one for the books, the CWCC Young Professionals Board has shown what it means to overcome and thrive. This group of women and men are resilient, creative, and supportive of each other and the chamber.
Two years ago when I, Heather Howerton, joined the chamber, this board was in its infancy – lacking direction and clarity. I saw the potential in what this board could do – give next-gen leaders an opportunity to step up and lead, to engage with our community, and create opportunities for both women and men in business. I saw this board building this reputation as the YP board to be on in the community that creates impact. I am proud to say that we have gotten here. While it’s beens hard work full of trials and tribulations, we are all learning – and still are. And don’t let the word “young” fool you. Our board is made up of CEO’s, VP’s, Directors, and Managers that are rising through the ranks in their organizations. THESE are the people to keep your eye on.
These leaders have engaged with over 150 professionals during events they’ve hosted such as negotiation and making a career change. They have brought in over $8k in 8 months, during a global pandemic, for CWCC. They have helped market other chamber events to bring in more people from our community, expanding our reach and impact.
Have I sold you yet on how amazing this board is? If so, the time is now to get involved and get on board (like my pun there?!). As we look into 2021, we are looking for up and coming leaders who are looking to engage other professionals like themselves, generate revenue for the chamber, and continue supporting the mission of CWCC.
Our incoming chair, Paige Goss, is “excited about the tremendous opportunity the YP board has and the responsibility to provide significant exposure, learning, and growth for our thriving community.”
Our current chair, Megan Fine, has been involved since the Day 1. “I have had the amazing opportunity to serve with the CWCC’s Young Professionals Advisory Board over the past three years and held the position of Board Chair in 2020. This chance to work with my fellow peers has been a privilege. I’ve grown professionally and personally all while establishing relationships that I will hold near and dear for years to come. I am awe-struck by this group of women and men that have built this Board from the ground up and created programs to support the mission of the Chamber.”
Applications are open and you can download the application here. They are due no later than October 12th at 8am to me, Heather Howerton, hhowerton@cwcc.org. We will be in touch 2-3 weeks following the deadline with next steps.
