#WomenCrushingWednesday w/ Morgan Buchanan

Name: Morgan Buchanan

Organization: A Precious Child

Title: Development Coordinator

Community work (board service, volunteering, mentoring, etc.): I started out at A Precious Child as a volunteer in our Resource Center. I loved it so much that it led to an internship, and now to my job as Development Coordinator! Additionally, I volunteer with an organization where I adopted my dog Astro because they rescue nursing dogs and their puppies from high-kill shelters across the southwest. I was also a professional ballet dancer for twelve years, engaging with the community through outreach performances to underserved schools.

CWCC Involvement (CWCC member for x amount of years, Engagement within CWCC: serve on our board, support our members and team, etc.): I am new to the Chamber! I joined in January. So far, I love the Corporate Women’s group, as well as the Business Development forum and the Young Professionals group. The YP holiday party should be a “must attend” on your social calendar! The Champions of Change event was incredibly inspiring as well.

The Why: Why do you do what you do/ why are you passionate about your work in our community?:  There are over 250,000 children living in poverty in the Denver metro area. In 2020, A Precious Child served 57,000 children and 20,000 adult caregivers, which was a huge accomplishment, but we still have a lot of work to do! Every day is a good day to make a difference in a child’s life and empower them to succeed.
